Majdool, also known as Medjool, is a large, soft date. Its elongated shape gives children plenty of room to observe the folds in the skin and the difference between its two ends.
Trace the long axis in the air before drawing the outline. Compare its proportions with a round LuLu date.
Open the Mozafati page next. Set your two sketches side by side and describe one difference in outline, skin or colour.
Ask the farm whether this variety can be seen on your preferred date. Children can bring their sketches and compare their observations with the family.
Ask about a visit ↗Use this field guide to explore date varieties. Ask the farm which dates you might see on your visit.

A Majdool’s elongated shape is a good contrast to a round LuLu. On the same page, sketch their silhouettes side by side and compare their length and width. Ask which varieties can be seen on your preferred visit date. Use the next guide to try the same exercise with another variety.
